Yes. We will accept GRE scores; however, GMAT scores are preferred.
What is the average GMAT score?
The average GMAT score for successful applicants is 600.

Does the program grant international students “Conditional Admissions”?
No. We do not offer any student conditional admission to the program.
Do you require an undergraduate degree in Marketing or Business?
No. Diverse backgrounds are encouraged. Common non-business majors include advertising, psychology, and social sciences.
How many students are admitted to the program?
The average class size is 25 students.
General Program Questions
When does the full-time program begin?
The full-time program only begins in January (spring semester) each year. There is no fall semester start date for the full-time program.
When does the online program begin?
The online program only begins in May (summer semester) each year.
Is there a fully online version of the MSMR program?
No. Our online program contains an on-campus component. Students must be willing to travel to East Lansing 2 times during the 19-month program to attend classes on campus.
Cost, Financial Aid, and Scholarships
How much does the program cost?
Please see the Program Cost webpage on our website for the most up-to-date information regarding MSMR program tuition and fees. The amount listed includes tuition, statistical software, and textbooks. The total cost is billed in block tuition format and is paid in equal installments at the beginning of each semester.
Can I apply for scholarships?
The MSMR program does not offer any scholarships.
Admitted Student Questions
When will I receive my official acceptance from MSU’s Office of Admissions?
The Office of Admissions begins sending out official acceptance packets in October for the spring semester start date (the full-time program) and in March for the summer semester start date (the online program).
When do classes start?
Full-time program: orientation will take place the Friday before classes begin. See the Academic Calendar on the Registrar’s website for the spring semester start date.
Online Program: your first August intensive will take place as listed on the program webpage. We will send out information with housing details.
Do I have to register for classes?
No. We enroll you in all of your classes. We will inform you as soon as you have been enrolled so that you may access your course schedule and student billing information.
Do I need to buy textbooks?
No. The program purchases your textbooks for you. We distribute textbooks at the beginning of each semester. Online program: some textbooks will be mailed directly to your home.
What kind of laptop do I need?
We recommend a Windows-based computer. Some of the statistical software used in the program does not work correctly on Mac computers.
