MSU’s National Team Selling Competition team finished second in its bracket, for an overall finish among the top six teams. This event draws together sales teams from universities across the United States to apply their experience and classroom knowledge in a realistic selling situation. The two-day competition includes both an initial sales call in which the selling team identifies company needs and establishes a relationship with the client, as well as a formal sales presentation to the entire client buying center. Students interacted with and were judged by sales professionals from Altria and 3M. Altria is also a current sponsor of the MSU Sales Program.
Congratulations to coach Stephanie Mangus, assistant professor of marketing, and to the team—Rachel Kern (BA Advertising ’15), Jacob Majeske (BA Marketing ’14), Megan Movalson (BA Advertising ’14), and Jennifer Sliva (BA Marketing ’15)—all sales communication specialization students. The team competed against 20 other teams from some of the top sales programs in the country.
In addition to the team’s overall success, Rachel Kern earned the competition’s MVP Award. The Award recognized a student that impressed the judges throughout the two days of competition. To be recognized out of a field of over 80 participants was quite a feat.
