Application Process

We only have admissions for starting in January of each year.

Application Materials Checklist

The MSMR program follows a rolling admissions process. That is, individual applications are reviewed when all the needed materials have arrived to our office and applicants are informed as soon as possible of the decision made on their application.

  1. Graduate application and fee
  2. One set of official transcripts
  3. GMAT scores
  4. TOEFL or IELTS (international applicants only)
  5. Three letters of recommendation
  6. Statement of purpose and intent
  7. Resume
  8. An Affidavit of Support (International applicants only)

1. Graduate Application form and fee:

Log onto the MSU Graduate School site and fill out an online application. Note that there are different applications for domestic and international students. http://grad.msu.edu/apply/online.aspx. The program code is 6057. The application deadline for January 2012 class is December 1, 2011.

2. Transcripts:

Provide one set of official transcripts of all academic work completed in colleges and universities other than MSU. Applicants who have attended other colleges or universities must arrange with those registrars to have their official transcripts sent to us. If your transcripts are on file in another MSU department, additional official transcripts do not need to be requested. Have all transcripts sent to the MSMR director at the address below.

3. GMAT scores:

Put the following code into the GMAT online system so that we have access to your GMAT scores: QH0-5P-00

4. TOEFL or IELTS Scores (International Students Only)

To demonstrate proficiency in English, we accept TOEFL or IELTS (international applicants only). Have an official copy of your scores sent to the MSMR Director.

5. Three letters of reference:

Please arrange to have three letters of reference from former faculty members or knowledgeable employers to be sent to us. The purpose of these letters is to provide evidence of your academic potential and promise as a graduate student. Individuals writing the references should mail them directly to the MSMR Director. These letters MUST be written on department or business letterhead stationery and be submitted with the recommendation form available here:

6. Statement of Purpose

The statement should describe your career goals and objectives, and explain why you believe our master’s program in marketing research will help you achieve those goals and objectives. This statement should be no longer than two typed, double-spaced pages.

7. Resume

Submit a resume highlighting your relevant education, work, and other experiences.

8. Submit an Affidavit of Support (International applicants only)
